Just Doing It!

Case and I went for a walk this evening at Sedgwick County Park....great park! I walked, he strolled. It was nice, it was breezy, it was light, it was fun. I need more of this, more movement. I didn't break a heavy sweat, but I didn't just stroll either.
As I was walking I started passing people running, ok, they passed me, but you know what I mean. I noticed they would pass another person in the opposite direction and give each other a high five and say, "One more, we can do it." One runner even said, "I love you, one more." I smiled at that same runner as she passed me. She yelled back at me, "That girl I just passed got me into this mess!"I told her to keep it up, it was pretty inspiring. And it was. Running has never been something I have liked to do. It has never been something I've been good at. Back in my softball days, I HATED when we had to run. HATED. In July 2009 my friend, Wendy and I joined a boot camp. Oy! I had to run. Shin splints galore. I just don't run.... I don't plan on starting to run or train for a 5K or anything like that, but I do want to be more active. I'm not going to lose the weight I want to lose by just tracking points, I need to move! That girl who yelled out to me, she wasn't a "skinny" girl, she wasn't a girl I would imagine running. But she was running. Maybe one day I will be able to run, but for now walking will do. I can go pretty fast with that Chico Stroller in front of me and hey, Case enjoys it as well.

You know me, I have never liked exercising. But you may surprise yourself. I never thought I'd be a runner, but I'm training for a 5K now. It's slow-going, and it does hurt sometimes, but I just keep thinking about the end goal. I think you're well on your way to being more active, and it gets even more easy with the more weight you lose!
